Monday Beginnings: USA Women's Team Win The World Cup

So for those still in the dark the United States Women’s Team won the World Cup. My congratulations to them. As you can probably gather I’m not writing this from the library. I have a delivery coming today so I have to be home for that. But that doesn’t mean I won’t be going to the library this week just means I will have to pick another day. At least I know I will at the very least have a new shirt to show off at counseling so that is a big plus. And if all works out well I might still get down to the library today. All depends on when the mail gets here.
It is getting near that time in the summer when we get that one super-hot week that seems like it will never end. So stock up on cold drinks and frozen treats. And turn up whatever you are using to stay cool. Some of my posts might be a bit late during that stretch of heat since I’m a bit sensitive to heat, but I will get them posted. And I will be making ice for ice coffee. Can’t go without the coffee that is just a no go. Oh and before I forget remember to use eco-friendly sun tan lotion that way it has the best chance of staying on in the water. And it prevents you from burning or getting too much sun in general. Just no one ask for snow that is just asking to be beaten at this point in the year. *Shivers.*
I’m working on a new story idea for Friday’s column it might take a while to get fully developed but will be worth the wait. It is one of my rare out of Halloween spooky stories. All I will say is that it will freak out you Coke drinkers the most. I’ve also got some columns from last week to do for this week. Plus some new stuff popping around in my head as well. My mind is always bounding all over the place, so you never quite know where I am going to go next with my writing. Even I’m surprised sometimes with where it goes.
I should have pics up on my Facebook page within a few months since I will be doing a little traveling. Nothing major just a writers’ retreat and a trip down to Boston to see the aquarium there. As well as possibly the natural history museum. While you will see the pictures on my page they might turn up in my stories as well as prompts. I’m just getting too cramped up here and need to stretch my legs again. It happens every so often. The writers’ retreat is going to become an annual thing hopefully. There are a lot of things I want to do as well still. And I am still in search of a movie buddy. I’ll find one eventually.
For now I need coffee though so I am going to cut this short. Feel free to leave comments below on what you think about my beginning to the week. And I hope everyone has a good Monday. *Tips his hat and walks out the door heading for the coffee brewer.*

Spiritual Sunday: Marriage

So I meant to post this last week but the day got away from me. I’m up early today and back in the groove of things. I’m feeling pretty good. Going to finish a late assignment after this. Hopefully still have a B sealed up for this class. And last week was the groundbreaking Supreme Court ruling on marriage was the reason I was going to post this. Since it seemed the relevant time to talk about my spiritual belief on marriage. And it still is since I was just reading about marriage in my Wicca studies this weekend. I’m sure not everyone will agree with me, but I am open to discussion on the topic as well.
And to be clear these are my own personal views on marriage. And how I interpret the universe’s will on the subject. I just don’t want anyone thinking I am speaking for anyone other than myself. For me I think that as long as two people love each other they should be allowed to get married. It just seems plain and simple to me. I mean the higher powers made them love each other and made them as they are. So who are we to argue with that? Are we going to tell the higher powers that they were wrong? We are talking about a force that can zap us off the face of the planet here.
We are also talking about a force that has consistently preached to all of humanity to have love for one another. As well as respect for life. And to help the poor. All of which we don’t do in this world. We are obsessed with greed and being right no matter what. And constantly going to war for one reason or another. We don’t work at marriage like we used to we just dismiss it if we are not happy for one reason or another. Now that is not to say if you are in an abusive marriage or marriage that just can’t be worked out that divorce isn’t an option. But sometimes it seems like divorce it just frivolously done. Or maybe it is just some enter into marriage too lightly.
Though I think with gay marriage that won’t be the case for a while since they fought so long to get the right to marry. More the problem with marriage is that straight people don’t take it serious enough overall. We get married too easily and for the most part when we aren’t happy enough we just go it’s over and get divorced. Our grandparents and great grandparents didn’t do that. They found a way to make it work with the people they loved. They worked on their relationships and made compromises and talked things out. No one seems willing to do that anymore.
We seem to live in an age where if the person isn’t instantly happy they demand a fix instantly. People keep forgetting some things take time. But no one wants to wait anymore. They want it now all the time. It doesn’t work like that in life all the time people. Sometimes you have to wait whether you like it or not. And believe it or not it does pay off greatly. There is a lot of history to show this to be true. Just remember how happy your grandparents were.
I’ll get down off my soap box now, and this post really did start off nicer than it seems to have turned out. Ah well. Feel free to leave comments letting me know what you think of my views. For now I am headed to get some coffee since I have not had any yet this morning. *Tips his hat and walks out the door towards the coffee brewer.*

Saturday Thoughts: Anothering Term Coming To An End

Happy Fourth of July! I know it is like a double posting today but I wanted to get the story posted for yesterday even though it was so late. Seems like I needed a whole day to rest after having so much fun the other day. Terms are going by faster and faster it seems though this one dragged a bit. I ended up getting a B in it and I can honestly say it was the hardest B I ever earned. Between being sick and bouts of depression it took everything I had to get the work done. But it was worth it and I did enjoy it in the end. It also got me reacquainted with Power Point. I might be making another presentation in the future for one of my groups I’m not sure, but it feels good to know I can.
It feels good to know that even at my worst I can get a B, so now I have my sights set on an A. Though I have my doubts about getting it next term since that class is in Mathematics, which is my week spot. But I am going to try like hell. And since it seems I will have a lighter work load than this term I might be able to catch up on my writing better. Plus I plan to experiment with SoundCloud. Might end up doing a podcast in the end who knows, but first I have to get comfortable in my own skin.
I’ve come to realize there are a lot of things I want to do in life and just only so much time in a day. So I do what I can and accept what I can’t do. Planning to go to the library Monday before counseling and check on my library card and do a little writing while I am there. Not sure if I will walk down to counseling or hope back on the bus. Probably will depend on the weather that day knowing me.  But it would be nice to check things out of the library if I need to for reference material since lord knows I have enough reading material for personal reading and it is ever growing. Plus it would give me access to other forms of media like some CDs I might enjoy as well. I will eventually put a picture on one of my blogs of it once I take one of it.
It is getting to the point where I will have to get a third bookshelf around here truth be told. I buy books like some people buy shoes or collectible cards. My collection is books and the signed ones each have stories behind them. I plan to pass on the collection eventually to my son. I hope he will treasure it as much as I do. By then will probably be a room full of wall to wall bookshelves knowing me. As well as all the National Geographic Magazines. I can hardly wait for the day when I get to talk to my son again and explain to him everything that happened and apologize and show him what I have done since he has been gone to try and make him proud of me.
When we are young we always want to grow up, but when we are grown up we always long for those days when we were so young and innocent. But time only moves forward. So I hold onto my cherished memories from those days and share them through my writing. In a way it allows me to relive them. In others it allows me to live paths I wish I had been able to take. Such is the life of a writer. At least for this one.
I swear it is always around the end of terms and on holidays I get nostalgic and today is a bit of a double whammy for it. I still have a couple of assignments to do as well which should prove interesting with me feeling like this. I’m not too worried about it though. I’ll probably do some writing later today to relief it on top of the assignments I am going to tackle. Then I’m on vacation as far as school work goes, at least for a week. It will be nice and hopefully I will have some fun that week.
Feel free to leave comment below about the hardest grade you ever earned or just what your favorite term ever was. I kind of got side tracked today and rambled on. Guess it kind of fits the column though. For now I’m going to catch up on some news and reading before tackling my assignments. *Tips his hat and walks out the door heading for the library.*
