Sunday Chit Chat: Just Some Ramblings

I was planning to write yesterday, but for the first time in a while I got sucked into a book and lost track of time. It felt great to me even if I did lose writing time. I mean I know I read all the time for class, but it’s not the same as reading for personal enjoyment. There is just a feeling you get when you read for yourself. And, it has been a while since I just sat down here and chatted with you, my readers, without having a message in mind to share with you. You know just general chit chat.
And, there has been a lot going on in my life lately that I wanted to share with you as well. For one I have started writing someplace else besides here. That place being Odyssey and my writing for there is an article a week. Though here is where you will find me being more personal as well as more of my local stuff in some cases, such as my rants against the governor of my state unless he blunders on a national level. This week head on over there to see my calling for community involvement. I’ll be posting a link to the article on my Facebook pages and my twitter as well as anywhere else I can think to. They are a great company and let their writers have free reign over what they write. As well as having a great editing staff along with excellent staff in the social media department as well. I cannot say enough good stuff about this company.
Now the second new thing is that I am part of the midnight broadcast of “That Damn Radio Show”, which you can find on Facebook where the links are posted to the show. It airs at noon and midnight live. In between those shows there are old radio shows and cool music. I will only be on the midnight show though I encourage people to listen to both shows and give the stuff in between a listen and see what they like. It will allow me to promote my writing as well as other people’s stuff that I enjoy. I am looking forward to getting started with it. I encourage everyone to tune in tonight at midnight.
On top of those two major changes I am full time at SNHU and enjoying it though at times I get behind in my work. But, that is from my own issues and not the work load. The teachers are all incredibly supportive as is my advisor. And, I feel like I’m growing as a writer as well as a person as I continue my journey through college. I’m in my junior year right now for those wondering and I still feel like I have so much to learn. But, maybe that is one of the secrets to life. To never stop learning as you walk through life. It’s a good principle to live by I think anyways. Maybe it just fits for me as well as those who are addicted to learning. I know crazy as it sounds but I am hooked on learning.
While doing all of that I am still trying to get out of the house more as well as getting some personal writing done. Keep this blog going as strong as possible and have a social life. Plus, make appointments for my health. It gets pretty crazy at times. And, at times I am not the best at some of them, but I am trying. I thank everyone for having patience with me as I work at balancing all of this. And, to the local Dunkin Donuts for keeping the ice coffees coming. Trust me coffee helps a lot at times. For most writers coffee is an important part of the day. Now if I can just get better sleeping hours I would be doing much better.
But, I have rambled on long enough for one day. I’ll try to be here more often now that things are starting to streamline a bit more. Feel free to leave questions and comments below. And, if you want my columns to appear in your inbox enter your email address in the box below where it says follow by email. As for me I am going to do some more reading and check on grades before working on next week’s article a bit. *Tips his hat and walks out the door. *

Rambling Friday: I Have A Message For ISIS

`I know I have been silent for a long time, and I am sorry for that been a bit busier than normal. I just started writing for Odyssey, so feel free to check out my articles over there. And, I am about to start broadcasting with That Damn Radio Show. On top of that I have my normal writing and schoolwork. So, you can see I have had to be silent for a bit while adjusting to that schedule. Now first off no I am not joining ISIS. But, I do have a message for them. And, it is quite simple. The violence has to stop. I guess really that is a message for all of mankind. We have been going through a senseless cycle of violence since the beginning of time. Trying to take territory and be stronger than those guys over there because they are different. That is basically what it boils down to. It doesn’t matter who threw the first punch, it is all just senseless violence with people on both sides losing loved ones.
And, in the end no one truly wins. Sure one side gets to claim it wins but we are all just left burying loved ones as well as repairing buildings and roads. We are all part of the human race and together we could do so much better. Yes, we have differences but we also have similarities. Hate is not part of any religion, so let it go and work on reaching out to people in love. I have looked at every major religion and they all have some major commonalities. They all say to take care of each other, help each other out, treat each other with respect and dignity, even as they call for you to convert people to that faith.
And, and they all preach against violence except in defense. It is not time for violence it is time for talking and peacemaking. It is not about imposing wills upon people but finding common ground. It is time to bring the world to peace. It is time to bring the world together as one people working together for a brighter future. Isn’t that what we all really want? I think it is. And, yes there will be individuals that act in criminal ways and we will have to deal with them on a case by case basis.
But, in this day and age we should not be fighting wars still. We shouldn’t be squabbling over land. We should be traveling freely around the world like the plants and animals do. And, yes there will be rules in the world for human beings as there should be. But, shouldn’t we be past this petty infighting and squabbling by now. It is time to unite as the human raise and set our sights on the stars. Why are we still trying to kill each other? For a little bit of dirt that we will eventually be part of. What is the point in that? Better to live freely and good than to keep being violent. Imagine what 7 billion people united in purpose can accomplish. But, we can’t do that while we are all too busy fighting over whose land is who’s.
I’m not saying we are all going to get along perfectly. Of course there will be disagreements from time to time. But, let’s talk them out instead of killing each other senselessly. It’s time to put down the weapons and sit down to start talking about our differences of opinion. Let’s find common ground and bury hatchets that have been going on for far too long. It is time to be one big community of humanity where we treat each other civilly. Enough with the violence.
I’ll get down off my soap box now and I understand not everyone will agree with me. But, I hope everyone can find a but of hope and goodness to take away from my message. Feel free to leave questions and comments below. And, if you want my columns when they appear to show up in your inbox enter your email in the box below where it says to follow by email. As for me I am back to work on schoolwork as soon as this posts. *Tips his hat and walks out the door. *

Thursday Coffee: Every Cop Right Now Should Be Ashamed To Have A Badge

*Smacks every cop in the country across the face hard. * Trust me you all deserve that. You and the blue shield you all collectively abuse to hide every little wrong you do. Your job is to serve and protect the citizens from all criminals even the ones you work with. So far I have not been seeing that in my lifetime from the police.  I just got done watching a 15-year-old boy blubber because while cops had his father pinned to the ground they discovered a gun so they shot him. And, before that I watched a man die because he had a concealed weapons permit basically.
What is wrong with you? Now I know there are a ton of you doing a good upstanding job. But, you are letting a bunch of dirty cops and cops unfit to be doing the job get away with this stuff. And, it has to stop because they are putting the public at risk. And, quite frankly they are putting you at risk by making people not trust the police. Actually to be blunt they are making people fear the police. You need to do your job and serve and protect, which means getting this scum out of the police force.
First ask yourselves are you cops or gang members? Because the gang members are the ones using that no ratting rule. Second ask what is the law and what is best for public safety? And, that is for these people to be punished and not being cops. Let them get job retraining, but this just isn’t the line of work for them. And, I’m even willing to admit that part of the problem might be the training. I don’t know what it is, but I know that what I have been seeing lately is stuff that even a bouncer would tell you not to do.
I see cops sprinting into situations and in some cases doing barrel rolls where there is no need for it. Unless there is screaming or a visible need to rush into something the best approach is to walk calmly into the scene being alert. That’s just common sense. Second if able to do that ask a few questions of people in the area get a feel for what is or has been going on. Again be alert. Keep the mood calm and coming down. Not amping up and becoming chaotic. Personally they should have trained you to calm things down. I shouldn’t have to be telling you this.
Now as for those of you out there interacting with the community on a regular basis and calming down situations when you arrive instead of escalating them. Thank you. And, I am a bit sorry for the smack, but you do need to help weed out the ones giving you a bad rap. But, we need more like you who interact with the community on a regular basis. Not just patrolling, but riding through and talking to people as well as stopping and hanging out a bit.
When the police who are assigned to patrol the neighborhood become part of it people respect them more. They trust them more as well knowing that they know what is going on and who is who. And, that these police officers are anchored into the neighborhood. At least that has been my experience. And, trust me you will find some of the best eating at little stores in the neighborhoods you are assigned to. And, I’m not against police in general I am against police who give the shield a bad name.
Now you know how to make things right you have seen the videos go put some people in cuffs. It is what is right and what is just. Treat them like any other suspect no special treatment for them either. Other than a special lock up so they don’t get shanked. But, I will leave it to you to do your job as I hope you will. Don’t let this injustice go unpunished.
I’ll step off my soapbox for now. Feel free to leave questions and comments below. And, if you want my column to appear in your inbox enter your email in the box below where it says follow by email. As for me I have a ton of work to do still. *Tips his hat and walks out the door. *
